This code extracts vertical profiles of the wind velocity components (u, v, w) in meters per second for Hurricane Fran in 1996, at a specified longitude and latitude, up to a user-specified altitude and at all available times. Here, u is the streamwise component in the x-direction, v is the spanwise component in the y-direction, and w is the vertical component in the z-direction. The output files were generated from a one-hour large-eddy simulation (LES) using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. The simulation focuses on the northeast quadrant of the hurricane at a horizontal resolution of 33.3 meters, spanning 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after landfall. There are 7 output files available, produced every 5 minutes. Please choose a latitude and longitude within the following boundaries of the computational domain: Latitude range: 33.45° to 34.41° Longitude range: -78.27° to -76.56° The selected location (34.00°, -77.00°) is within the valid range. For the vertical profiles, the first model height cannot be below what WRF resolves. It will be rounded up to the nearest integer multiple of the entered vertical increment. First model level will be at 5.0 meters, with sampling every 5.0 meters up to 500.0 meters.
